Debtmaster is being rebuilt. Decide where you land before you're moved.
Comtronic Systems has built collection software since 1980, and since January 2024 it has been a Banyan Software company. The current product, Debtmaster EVO, is a rebuild on PostgreSQL, so every customer on Debtmaster 360 or Debtmaster Professional faces a data migration to reach it. That is a real choice point: land on another private-cloud, Windows-client system, or on a hosted platform built for how consumers resolve balances now.
- Accounts, debtors & balances
- Payment history, notes & activity
- Active payment arrangements
- Stored cards & ACH, via your processor
- Compliance flags & audit trail
Migrating from Debtmaster (Comtronic Systems, a Banyan Software company since January 2024) → Resolvah
What is happening at Debtmaster.
Dated and sourced. The things a buyer should know before deciding whether to stay.
- 1980 to 2005
Comtronic Systems is founded in Cle Elum, Washington, by Jeff Dantzler. Debtmaster becomes a division of Ontario Systems around 1997; Ontario sells it back to Dantzler in January 2005.
- 2003 to 2020
Debtmaster moves to a Sybase SQL Anywhere database (v7, 2003), then to Debtmaster Professional (v9 and v10) and Debtmaster 360, offered on premises, in Comtronic's private cloud, or in Microsoft Azure.
- January 23, 2024
Banyan Software, an Atlanta holding company with more than a hundred vertical-software businesses, acquires Comtronic. Ryan Vroman, acting president since October 2022, becomes CEO.
- 2024 to 2026
Debtmaster EVO launches: a rebuild on PostgreSQL, deployed as a private instance per customer rather than shared SaaS. The CallThru SIX dialer is exclusive to EVO. Comtronic hires a remote senior account executive to sell the new EVO portals and relaunches its website in 2026.
- February 2026
Comtronic's current license documents still cover the premise (LAN) product alongside Private Cloud and Maintenance Plus. No end-of-life date has been published for Debtmaster Professional or 360.
Why agencies leave Debtmaster.
Debtmaster is a healthy product from a stable vendor, and a lot of small and mid-sized agencies in the US and Canada run it well. The reasons to look elsewhere are structural, not distress: the architecture puts servers, backups and security on you, integrations reach into the database because there is no public API on 360, and the road to EVO is a migration you did not schedule.
A migration is coming either way. EVO is a different database (PostgreSQL) from 360 and Professional (Sybase SQL Anywhere), so staying with the vendor still means converting your data.
It is your infrastructure to run. Premise or private cloud, the database, backups, and the servers holding SSNs and card data are yours to secure. EVO keeps that model: your instance, your database.
A Windows thick client and database-level integrations. There is no public API on Debtmaster 360; partners wire into the Sybase database, and reports come out through ODBC, Crystal or the code-writer engine.
A small vendor with weekday-hours support (6 am to 4 pm Pacific), and no independent user community since the vendor-run Summit conferences of the early 2000s.
Debtmaster vs Resolvah
Both can collect a debt. The difference is how it feels to your team, your clients, and the person on the other end.
Client reporting ran through Comtronic-hosted ClientAccess; consumer payments now go through the EVO Consumer Portal, which you host yourself. It takes payments; plain-language resolution and plan building are not the design.
A warm, self-serve resolution experience. Dee explains the balance in plain language, offers plans people can actually afford, and lets them resolve it 24/7 from any phone.
On premises, Comtronic Private Cloud, or your own Azure. EVO is a private instance per customer, deliberately not shared SaaS.
Fully cloud-hosted and always current — nothing to install, patch, or keep alive on a server in your office.
The vendor states compliance logic by US state and Canadian province; audit logging and MFA in EVO. Procedure-driven on 360.
FDCPA, Reg F, TCPA and state rules built into the everyday workflow, with a complete, exportable audit trail on every account and message.
Comtronic's own dialer (CallThru), Metro 2 reporting, Word mail merge; Debtmaster IQ reporting and Nova portal AI in EVO.
Modern automation and AI assist draft outreach, summarize an account at a glance, and surface the next best step — without taking the human out of it.
Per-user, quote-based.
Transparent, predictable pricing. The features that make recovery humane aren't locked behind surprise modules or per-seat upcharges.
A 360-to-EVO conversion on Comtronic's roadmap. Resolvah reads your Sybase or PostgreSQL database directly and reconciles it with you.
A Resolvah onboarding team works with yours at every step: we map your data, move it, reconcile it against your old system, and work with your payment processor so active arrangements keep running. Four weeks to three months, and we stay on through go-live.
Comparison reflects general, publicly-observable platform characteristics and is provided to help you evaluate a switch. Debtmaster is a trademark of its respective owner; Resolvah is not affiliated with or endorsed by it.
A migration you barely feel.
Debtmaster keeps your data in a database you own: Sybase SQL Anywhere on 360 and Professional, PostgreSQL on EVO, both reachable over ODBC. For premise and self-hosted deployments the export is entirely in your hands; Comtronic told a bankruptcy court in 2017 that it keeps no customer account data itself. We map your tables and custom fields with you, move them, and reconcile every total against Debtmaster before cutover. Four weeks to three months.
Prepare
We scope your portfolio, confirm the export path, and schedule a calm migration window.
Move
Your data comes across — accounts, history, notes and active plans — with a Resolvah specialist on it start to finish.
Validate
We reconcile every total with you against your old system before anyone relies on the new one.
Go live
Your collectors pick up where they left off, and your old system stays put until you're ready to retire it.
Worried about payment tokens? We work directly with your existing payment processor to re-point the vault to Resolvah, so stored cards and ACH come across and every active arrangement keeps running. Nobody re-enters a card, and no plan is interrupted.
The honest list for this system, so cutover day holds no surprises.
- Accounts, debtors and balances
Read directly from your Sybase or PostgreSQL database over ODBC and reconciled account by account.
- Payment history and notes
Transaction and note history come across; we check counts and totals against Debtmaster before cutover.
- Active payment arrangements
Scheduled arrangements continue on their cadence.
- Stored cards and ACH
Debtmaster runs payments through processors such as Nuvei, PDCflow, Payscout, REPAY or RevSpring. We work with your processor to re-point the vault to Resolvah, so every plan keeps running.
- Credit reporting history
Debtmaster reports Metro 2 natively; we carry the reporting state across so the next file is consistent.
- Custom reports and Word letter templates
Crystal, code-writer reports and Word merges are written against the Debtmaster schema. We rebuild the reports and letters you use in Resolvah.
- Dialer recordings
Held in CallThru or your dialer vendor. We help you export them for your retention period.
- Ask Comtronic in writing for the EVO conversion scope, timeline and cost for your instance, so you are comparing like with like.
- Read your Private Cloud, Maintenance Plus or LAN service terms for notice periods and data-return terms. On premise, the database is already yours; on Private Cloud, confirm how you get a full copy.
- Take a full backup of the Sybase or PostgreSQL database that you control, and confirm it restores.
- Tell your payment processor a re-point of the token vault is coming, and get any fee in writing.
- If you run Canadian portfolios, list the provinces so the compliance rules are mapped before the move, not after.
Switching from Debtmaster
Is Debtmaster being sunset?
No. Comtronic is a stable vendor, recapitalized by Banyan Software in 2024, and it has published no end-of-life date for Debtmaster Professional or 360. What is true is that the current product, EVO, is a rebuild on a different database, so customers on the older versions face a data migration to reach it. This page is about choosing where that migration lands.
We run Canadian portfolios. Does Resolvah handle them?
Tell us which provinces during scoping and we will be straight with you about fit. Debtmaster is one of the few systems that markets to Canadian agencies, and we do not want to promise what we have not mapped for your provinces.
How painful is moving our Debtmaster data to Resolvah?
We make it as painless as we can, and we do it with you rather than to you. Accounts, balances, payment history, notes, active arrangements and compliance flags come across, and we reconcile the totals against Debtmaster before anyone relies on Resolvah. Anything that cannot come across (call recordings held by a dialer vendor, for example) is identified up front, so nothing is a surprise on cutover day.
Will active payment plans keep running when we switch from Debtmaster?
Yes. We work with your existing payment processor to re-point the vault to Resolvah, so stored card and ACH tokens come across, scheduled arrangements continue on their cadence, and no consumer re-enters payment details.
How long does migrating from Debtmaster take?
Four weeks to three months, depending on the size of the portfolio and how Debtmaster stores its data. A Resolvah onboarding specialist scopes it with you first, so you get a date, not a range, before anything moves. Debtmaster stays your system of record until the reconciliation is signed off.
